The Vegetable Management Office and the Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department (AFCD) jointly launched the “Reputable Farms Project” in 1994. The purpose of the project is to confirm that food farms operated by Hong Kong people in Hong Kong or in Guangdong Province adopt good farming practices. and proper use of pesticides, recognizing them as reputable farms. As the food markets run by Hong Kong people in China move northward, they plan to expand to the Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region within the year. Vegetables produced by reputable farms must be tested for pesticide residues before being distributed to reputable retail outlets designated by the Vegetable Management Office for sale. Consumers can identify reputable vegetables at retail outlets with the “Reputable Retailer” mark issued by the Vegetable Management Department.
